Changing or Replacing an IoT Device on a Scooter
When a scooter's IoT module needs to be replaced due to hardware failure, you must both physically swap the module and rebind the new IoT in the Segway Dashboard. This guide covers the Dashboard steps.
Prerequisites
- The replacement IoT module is physically installed in the scooter
- You have access to the Segway Dashboard
- The new IoT's serial number or IMEI is available
Step 1: Verify the New IoT is Available in the Platform
Before binding, the IoT must be registered in your platform.
- Log in to the Segway Dashboard
- Navigate to Scooters > Vehicle Activation > Extra IoT tab

- Check if the new IoT appears in the Extra IoT list

If the IoT does not appear under Extra IoT, check under Vehicle IoT - it may already be bound to another vehicle.
Step 2: Unbind the Old IoT
- Find the scooter in the Dashboard
- Click on the scooter to view its details
- Navigate to the IoT section
- Click Unbind to release the current IoT from this scooter
Step 3: Bind the New IoT
- With the scooter selected, navigate to the IoT binding section
- Select the new IoT module from the available list
- Click Bind to associate the new IoT with this scooter
Step 4: Verify
After binding, wait 2-3 minutes for the new IoT to connect to the server. The scooter's status in the Dashboard should change from offline to online if the IoT is configured correctly.
If the scooter remains offline after binding, verify the new IoT's IP and APN settings. See:

Using the Segway Launcher App
You can also rebind an IoT using the Segway Launcher mobile app. See Launcher - Connect QR Code & Change IoT for the mobile workflow.
