OKAI ES400 Operator Guide

The OKAI ES400 IoT module is the vehicle's communication brain. It links the scooter to the backend, reports telemetry and faults, receives commands, and coordinates with the ECU, battery, NFC, Bluetooth, audio, GPS, and lock systems.

IoT Module Role

The IoT module handles:

  • Cellular connection through the installed SIM.
  • Server communication for telemetry and commands.
  • GPS and assisted GPS reporting.
  • Lock, unlock, locate, alarm, and audio actions.
  • NFC and Bluetooth security workflows.
  • Fault monitoring from the ECU, battery, meter, and locks.
  • OTA coordination when safe.

For network setup, use OKAI Server Configuration.

SIM and Server Connection

The ES400 IoT module contains a SIM slot. The SIM must be active and have data service before the scooter can report to Levy Fleets.

When server configuration is complete, the IoT should reconnect to Levy Fleets within 30 to 90 seconds in normal signal conditions.

Do not leave vehicles in TEST mode after configuration. TEST mode is for setup and diagnostics only.

Demo Samples vs. Mass Production Vehicles

Some demo/sample units and mass-production units behave differently:

  • Sample units may default to TEST mode.
  • Mass-production vehicles usually wake into normal mode after activation.
  • Pinhole press duration can differ by device version.
  • TEST mode allows USB/ZK Tool commands.
  • Normal mode disables USB command sending and receives data through Bluetooth, NFC, and server workflows.

OTA Behavior

OKAI devices may refuse OTA updates while the vehicle is riding or charging. This is intentional: during OTA, the IoT may not be able to monitor every electronic component, so the device avoids updates during higher-risk states.

If an OTA update does not start:

  1. Confirm the vehicle is parked and not in an active ride.
  2. Confirm the battery is not actively charging if the update path blocks charging-state OTA.
  3. Confirm the IoT is online.
  4. Retry after a fresh heartbeat.

Audio Alerts

The IoT speaker can play several operational sounds:

  • Lock successful.
  • Unlock successful.
  • Power on / restart.
  • Alarm from continuous vibration.
  • Alarm from abnormal battery-door opening.
  • Locate sound when the server sends a locate command.
  • Mechanical lock unlocking.
  • Mechanical lock locking.

Volume is configurable by command path and should be set low enough for the deployment environment, especially at night.

Spare Battery and Lost-Vehicle Behavior

The IoT has a backup battery separate from the scooter's main traction battery. When the main battery has power, it charges the IoT backup battery. If the main battery is depleted or disconnected, the backup battery can keep the IoT alive long enough to report background GPS data.

Use this behavior for missing-vehicle recovery, but do not depend on it as the primary operating state. A vehicle with a depleted main battery should be recovered and charged.

Speed Configuration

Speed limits should follow local law and your deployment policy. Levy Fleets applies speed limits through supported IoT command paths and zone rules. Do not manually change speed settings outside the approved dashboard or support workflow.

Alarms

OKAI ES400 vehicles have alarms for situations such as:

  • Forced battery door opening.
  • Continuous vibration or movement.
  • ECU faults.
  • IoT faults.
  • Lock communication faults.

When an alarm appears in Levy Fleets, inspect the vehicle before redeploying it if the fault affects riding, braking, battery, or lock safety.
