Policies & Disclosures
Full transparency — know the rules before you book.
The renter is responsible for maintaining valid auto insurance coverage during the rental period. You have three options:
- Use your own auto insurance — Most personal auto policies extend to rental vehicles. Confirm your policy covers independent car rentals.
- Use your credit card's rental car coverage — Many major credit cards include collision/loss damage coverage. Check with your card issuer.
- Purchase renter protection at checkout — We offer optional collision damage and liability coverage through our booking platform.
Levy Car Rental carries commercial auto liability insurance on this vehicle. However, the renter may be held financially responsible for damages, deductibles, and liability not covered by their own insurance.
A collision damage waiver (CDW) is optional and not required. If offered, the CDW waives Levy Car Rental's right to charge you for damage to the vehicle in most circumstances. The maximum daily charge for a CDW in New York is $12.00 for rentals of 30 days or less.
The CDW does not cover:
- Damage caused by intentional acts, reckless driving, or DUI
- Damage to personal belongings
- Damage caused by off-road use
- Loss of use, diminished value, or administrative fees
- No smoking — A $250 cleaning fee will be assessed.
- No off-roading — The vehicle is for paved road use only.
- Return clean — Excessive dirt/mess may result in a fee up to $150.
- Fuel — Return with the same fuel level as pickup, unless you purchased prepaid fuel.
- Pets — Allowed with a carrier or seat cover. A $75 cleaning fee applies if additional cleaning is needed.
- Geographic limits — Contiguous US and Canada. Cross-border travel to Mexico is not permitted.
- GPS tracking — This vehicle is equipped with IoT tracking for fleet management, security, and theft recovery.
- Report any damage or mechanical issues immediately through the app.
- You have 72 hours after vehicle return to dispute any damage claims (per NY law).
- The $250 security deposit may be applied toward damages not covered by insurance.
- In the event of an accident, you must file a police report and notify us within 24 hours.
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the rental start time.
- Cancellations within 24 hours: first day's rental fee is non-refundable.
- No-shows: full rental amount is non-refundable.
- A grace period of 30 minutes applies to all returns.
- Late returns beyond 30 minutes are charged at 1.5x the daily rate for each additional day or partial day.
- Failure to return the vehicle within 24 hours of the scheduled return without communication will be treated as unauthorized use and reported to authorities.

You'll receive the vehicle's exact location in the East Village (10009) through the Levy app once your booking is confirmed. Walk to the car, tap "Unlock" in the app, and drive. No keys, no handoff, no waiting.
Yes — you must have valid auto insurance that covers rental vehicles, or purchase renter protection through our app at checkout. Most personal auto policies and many credit cards provide rental car coverage, but we recommend confirming with your provider before your trip.
Pull over safely, call 911 if needed, and file a police report. Then report the incident through the Levy app immediately. Your insurance (personal or purchased through us) will handle the claim. You may be responsible for your deductible and any costs not covered by insurance.
We place a $250 hold on your card at booking. It's not a charge — it's an authorization hold. If the vehicle is returned on time, undamaged, and clean, the hold is released within 3–5 business days.
Yes — request an extension through the app at least 4 hours before your scheduled return. Extensions are subject to availability and will be charged at the applicable daily rate.
Return the vehicle to the same general area where you picked it up in the East Village. Specific return instructions are provided in the app. Make sure the car is legally parked — you are responsible for any parking tickets during your rental.
No. Mileage is unlimited.
Only the registered renter may drive unless an additional driver has been approved and added to the booking. Additional drivers must meet the same age, license, and insurance requirements.

No. You are responsible for all tolls incurred during your rental. We recommend having E-ZPass or ensuring your payment method is linked to Tolls by Mail.
