Levy Fleets vs RentSyst
RentSyst reads the vehicle better than almost anything in its price band. Levy reads it and opens it — for a verified renter, with nobody on site.
Plus ~$2.50/vehicle/mo GPS integration, plus hardware and data
Of car-sharing revenue, no per-vehicle software fee
OEM-compatible vehicles connect via Smartcar with nothing installed
Fuel difference and mileage overage invoicing is a real strength

The per-vehicle price is not the whole cost
RentSyst’s headline of roughly $2–3 per vehicle per month is genuinely low, but the telemetry that makes the product good is not included in it. Advanced GPS features add about $2.50 per vehicle per month, and the OBD-II tracker itself plus its SIM and data plan is an operator cost — typically $50–100 per unit up front and a recurring data charge. A 50-car fleet is therefore closer to $5.50 per vehicle per month in software plus $2,500–5,000 of hardware plus data. That is still inexpensive. It is just a different number from $3, and it should be compared against Levy’s zero-hardware path on OEM-compatible vehicles.

About RentSyst
RentSyst is the rental system that took connected vehicles seriously earliest. Its architecture centres on the Vehicle Online System, which ingests data from OBD-II GPS trackers and turns it into automated billing: a renter who returns a car with less fuel than they started with gets an invoice calculated from the actual data, mileage overages compute in real time without odometer checks, and a violations module matches ticket and toll timestamps to the active rental contract to assign the fine to the responsible renter. It also includes a task manager for assigning field jobs. Its per-vehicle pricing is among the lowest in the category. Where Levy differs is the access layer: RentSyst reads vehicles, Levy also commands them.
