IoT Push Messages - Alerts and Faults
The Segway IoT module monitors scooter conditions and sends push messages to the server when anomalies are detected. These messages fall into two categories: Alerts (operational anomalies) and Faults (hardware failures).
Alerts
Alerts are triggered by misuse or unusual operational conditions. There are four alert categories:
| Alert ID | Type | Description | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Illegal Movement | Scooter is moved or touched while in locked state | Sent immediately on detection, then every 4 minutes |
| 2 | Fallen Over | Scooter falls to the ground | Sent immediately on detection, then every 10 minutes |
| 3 | Illegal Removal | IoT does not receive heartbeat for 60+ seconds (potential IoT removal) | Sent immediately |
| 4 | Low Battery | Battery level drops below the configured low-battery threshold | Sent once per threshold crossing |
Faults
Faults indicate hardware failures that require maintenance:
| Fault Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Motor Fault | Motor controller error or failure |
| BMS Fault | Battery management system error |
| Display Fault | Dashboard display error |
| IoT Fault | IoT module hardware error |
| Brake Fault | Electronic brake system error |
Faults are sent to the server immediately when detected and are visible in the Malfunction Record section of the Segway Dashboard.
Viewing Alerts and Faults
In the Segway Dashboard:
- Go to Scooters > Malfunction Record to view fault history
- Push notifications are also sent to the configured operator contact
In the Segway Launcher app, you can view active alerts for individual scooters in the Scooter Section.
Configuring Alert Notifications
Alert thresholds and notification preferences can be configured in the Dashboard under Strategy Center > Operation Settings. Contact Segway support for configuration options specific to your platform type.
