Electric Scooter Tire Types: A Fleet Operator's Guide

Pneumatic tires provide the best ride comfort and traction through air cushioning. However, they can puncture and require regular pressure checks. Ideal for comfort-focused fleets with maintenance capacity. Inner tubes can be replaced; tubeless designs reduce but don't eliminate flats.

Solid rubber tires are puncture-proof and maintenance-free. The trade-off is a harsher ride and less traction on wet surfaces. Ideal for low-maintenance fleets where rider comfort is secondary. Some solid tires are replaceable; others are fused to the wheel.

Honeycomb or cellular tires attempt to bridge the gap: puncture-proof like solid tires but with some cushioning from the honeycomb structure. Ride quality falls between pneumatic and solid. A good compromise for many fleet applications.

Larger diameter tires (10"+) roll over obstacles more easily and provide stability. Smaller tires (6-8") are lighter and more maneuverable but feel rougher on uneven surfaces. Wider tires offer more traction and stability.
