Levy Fleets vs AlterLock
A detailed comparison to help you choose the right fleet management platform for your scooter, e-bike, or golf cart rental business.
Great alarm. Wrong primary layer for rentals.
AlterLock can be a strong extra deterrent on a premium demo bike, executive e-bike, or owner-operated rental where a loud local alarm is valuable. For self-serve rentals, Levy still needs to own the live workflow: the rider app, QR unlock, payment authorization, ride billing, parking rules, refunds, and remote disable. AlterLock protects a bike; Levy operates the fleet.

The subscription is cheap; the missing workflow is not
At published US hardware pricing, 25 AlterLocks cost $4,248.75 in hardware and 100 bikes cost $16,995. The service layer is unusually cheap because one agreement can cover up to three devices: using the current first USD annual tier, 25 devices can fit into roughly 9 agreements (~$359.55/year) and 100 devices into roughly 34 agreements (~$1,358.30/year). That is excellent anti-theft economics, but it buys an alarm and tracker only. A rental operator would still need connected locks, payments, rider identity, pricing, support, tax reporting, and fleet operations tools.

When to Choose Each Platform
Choose Levy Fleets if you...
- You operate or plan to operate a rental, share, or hire bike fleet
- You need riders to unlock and pay through a branded app
- You want one platform for tracking, payments, and operations rather than a tracker plus separate tools
- You need coverage in regions where AlterLock is currently unavailable (UK, Ireland, Italy, Canada)
Choose AlterLock if you...
- You are an individual cyclist protecting one or a few high-value bikes
- You want a built-in 95dB alarm with motion detection
- You value the cheapest long-term subscription cost in the bike-tracker category
- You like the bottle-cage form factor and Bluetooth auto-arming
Why Operators Choose Levy Over AlterLock
Levy is a full rental platform — AlterLock is a bike-specific anti-theft device with no rider, payment, or rental workflow.
Levy IoT supports remote unlock and motor disable. AlterLock can sound an alarm but cannot lock or disable the bike.
Real-time telemetry over a persistent connection vs AlterLock's passive locator that wakes on motion.
Levy includes branded rider apps, in-app payments, ride history, refunds, partner payouts, and tax tools — none of which exist on a standalone tracker.
AlterLock is unavailable in the UK, Ireland, Italy, and Canada; Levy operates wherever your chosen IoT hardware has cellular coverage.
