Regular Maintenance Checklist for ES Scooters
Use this checklist to maintain your Segway ES scooter fleet. Parts marked with high priority (indicated in the original SOP as red and starred) must be checked every day. The remaining parts can be checked on a weekly or periodic schedule.
Daily Checks (High Priority)
These items must be checked before every operating day:
Mechanical
- Tires - Check air pressure and inspect for cuts, punctures, or excessive wear
- Brakes - Test both front and rear brakes for proper stopping force
- Stem folding mechanism - Verify the stem locks securely in the upright position
- Handlebar tightness - Ensure the handlebars do not rotate or wobble
- Footpad - Check for cracks, loose edges, or peeling
Electrical
- Battery level - Check charge level; ensure scooter is charged before deployment
- Display - Power on and verify display functions correctly
- Lights - Verify front headlight and rear taillight work
- IoT online status - Confirm scooter is showing as online in the Dashboard
Weekly Checks
Mechanical
- Wheels - Check for loose bolts, bearing play, or wheel wobble
- Brake cables - Inspect for fraying, kinking, or unusual stretch
- Throttle - Verify smooth operation and return to neutral
- Kickstand - Check for damage or improper lock
- Rear fender - Inspect for cracks or loose mounting screws
- Stem bolts - Check torque on all stem fasteners
- QR code sticker - Verify QR code is readable and not damaged
Electrical
- Charging port - Inspect for debris or bent pins
- IoT module - Check for loose wiring connections
- Error codes - Review the malfunction record in the Dashboard for any logged faults
Periodic Checks (Monthly / Every 500 km)
Mechanical
- Bearings - Check for roughness or play in wheel bearings and headset
- Brake pads - Inspect wear level; replace if below minimum thickness
- Tire replacement - Replace when tread depth is insufficient
Software
- Firmware - Check current firmware versions against the latest available; upgrade if needed
- IoT firmware - Verify IoT firmware is current
After Any Impact or Incident
If a scooter has been in a collision or fallen over:
- Inspect frame for cracks (especially around the stem fold)
- Check all electrical connections
- Test all brakes
- Verify IoT is still online and reporting correctly
- Complete a Quality Issue Report if needed (see Quality Issue Reporting)
