Things to Do After Receiving Your First Batch of Scooters
When your first batch of Segway scooters arrives, they will be in Transport Mode with the IoT and all systems powered down. Follow this checklist to get them operational.
Required Steps
1. Exit Transport Mode
New scooters arrive in Transport Mode (Shipment Mode). You must exit this mode before the scooters can be used or activated.
How: Plug in the charger. The scooter will exit Transport Mode automatically after charging for more than 3 seconds.
See the full Transport Mode guide for details.
2. Activate the Scooter in the Dashboard
After the scooter is out of Transport Mode, it must be activated in the Segway Dashboard.
How: Log in to the Dashboard → Scooters → Vehicle Activation. Find the scooter and activate it.
See the Vehicle Activation video tutorial for a walkthrough.
3. Verify the Scooter Comes Online
After activation, the scooter should appear online in the Dashboard within a few minutes.
If it does not come online, check the IoT IP and APN settings. See Troubleshoot Offline Scooter.
4. Check Firmware Version
Verify that the scooter's firmware (IoT, BMS, Display, Controller) is on the latest version.
How: In the Dashboard or Segway Launcher, check the firmware version for each component.
See Latest Firmware Version for the current versions.
5. Update Firmware if Needed
If any component firmware is outdated, update it using the Dashboard OTA feature.
Important: Follow the correct update sequence: IoT first, then BMS, then Display, then Controller.
See Firmware Upgrade via Dashboard for instructions.
After Initial Setup
Once the above steps are complete, your scooters are ready to deploy. Before deployment:
- Charge all scooters to 100%
- Verify GPS location is showing correctly in the Dashboard
- Place scooters in the designated service area
