Group Rides
Group rides let you unlock multiple vehicles from a single account so your friends, family, or tour group can ride together. You handle all the billing — everyone else just hops on and rides.
How It Works
- You start your ride by scanning or unlocking a vehicle as usual
- Add more vehicles for your group by tapping "Add Rider" and scanning additional vehicles
- Everyone rides independently on their own vehicle
- You end all rides when the group is done — one tap ends the whole session
All charges go to your account. Your group members don't need to create accounts, add payment methods, or download the app.
Starting a Group Ride
Unlock Your Vehicle
Start a ride as you normally would — scan the QR code or enter the vehicle number. This becomes your parent ride.
Add Riders
Tap "Add Rider" in the app, then scan the QR code on the next vehicle. Repeat for each person in your group.
Hand Off Vehicles
Once each vehicle is unlocked, hand it to your friend or family member. They're ready to ride.
Group Size Limits
There's a maximum number of vehicles you can unlock per session. This varies by location and by any ride package you've purchased. The app will let you know if you've reached the limit.
During the Ride
- Each person rides their own vehicle independently
- You can see all active group rides in your app
- Individual rides can be paused or ended separately (e.g., if someone leaves early)
- The remaining group rides stay active
Ending a Group Ride
When your group is done riding:
Tap End All Rides
In the app, tap "End All Rides" to end the entire group session at once.
Park Vehicles
Make sure all vehicles are parked in a valid parking zone. If any vehicle is outside a parking zone, that ride may stay active until the vehicle is moved.
Review Charges
You'll see a summary showing the charge for each vehicle and the total amount.
You can also end individual rides one at a time if some people finish before others.
How Billing Works
All charges for the group are billed to your account:
- Each vehicle's ride is calculated independently (based on time, distance, or the location's pricing model)
- Unlock fees apply per vehicle
- The total for all rides is charged to your wallet or payment method
- Your receipt shows a breakdown for each vehicle
Example
Your vehicle: 30 min → $7.50
Friend's vehicle: 28 min → $7.00
Sister's vehicle: 32 min → $8.00
─────────────────────────────────────
Total charged to you: $22.50
Daily Caps
If the location has a daily spending cap, it applies across all your rides combined. Once you hit the cap, remaining ride time is free.
Using Ride Packages with Groups
If you purchase a ride package that supports multiple riders, the package benefits apply to your whole group:
- Package time is shared across all vehicles
- Package unlocks cover your group's vehicles
- The package's max riders setting determines how many vehicles you can unlock
- Any usage beyond the package is billed at standard rates
For example, a "Family Pack" package might include 2 hours of ride time for up to 4 vehicles.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do my friends need the app?
No. You unlock all vehicles from your account. Your group members just need to be present to ride.
Can I add someone to the group mid-ride?
Yes — tap "Add Rider" at any time during your ride to add another vehicle to your group, as long as you haven't reached the group limit.
What if someone finishes early?
You can end that individual ride separately. The rest of the group keeps riding.
What if a vehicle won't lock when I end rides?
If a vehicle doesn't lock after ending, contact the fleet operator. The ride will still end and billing will be calculated, but the operator may need to lock the vehicle remotely.
Is there a limit to how many vehicles I can unlock?
Yes. The limit depends on your location and any ride package you've purchased. Common limits range from 2 to 8 vehicles. The app shows your current limit.
Can I split the bill with my group?
Billing is handled through your account only. You'll need to settle up with your group separately (Venmo, cash, etc.).
