Ride Abandonment Fee

Understand when Levy charges an abandonment fee versus an out-of-zone fee, and how to identify both in dashboard ride views, the customer profile, and CSV exports.

Navigation

Access this from Dashboard > Rides.

What It Does

Levy now distinguishes between two types of end-of-ride extra fees: an out-of-zone fee (charged when a rider manually ends a trip outside an allowed parking zone) and an abandonment fee (charged when the platform auto-ends a ride because the rider walked away from the vehicle). The distinction is derived from the ride's end_reason field — any reason prefixed with auto_end_ is an abandonment — and surfaces consistently across the dashboard home screen, the rides list, the individual ride detail page, the customer profile recent-rides widget, and CSV ride exports (which now include an 'End Fee Type' column). Operators and support teams get an exact, human-readable label for every end-of-ride charge without touching logs.

  • Instant clarity in dispute resolution - Support staff see 'abandonment fee' or 'out-of-zone fee' directly on the customer profile and ride detail — no log diving required
  • Accurate financial exports - The CSV ride export now carries an 'End Fee Type' column that distinguishes the two fee categories for billing reconciliation and accounting
  • Consistent labeling across all surfaces - Dashboard home, rides list, ride detail, and customer profile all use the same label, so any operator touchpoint tells the same story

Before You Start

  • Confirm your team has dashboard access for the relevant subaccount.
  • Review the settings with one fleet or location before rolling the workflow out everywhere.
  • Tell operators what changed so internal SOPs match the dashboard.

Use The Feature

  1. Open Dashboard > Rides — rides with an end fee now show either 'abandonment fee' or 'out-of-zone fee' below the fare total
  2. Click into any ride detail to see the fee label under the Charges section
  3. Open Dashboard > Customers > [Customer] to see the same label on recent ride cards in the customer profile
  4. Export rides via CSV — the download now includes a new 'End Fee Type' column; the fee amount column has been renamed from 'Out-of-Zone Fee' to 'End Fee'

Operational Notes

  • Start with the smallest useful rollout, then expand once dispatchers and technicians are comfortable with the workflow.
  • Keep naming, permissions, and customer-facing copy consistent with the rest of your fleet configuration.
  • Revisit the setup after the first week of usage and adjust it based on support tickets or operator feedback.

  • Configure the feature and verify it with a real operator account.
  • Share this guide with the team that will use it.
  • Review results after one week and expand the rollout.
