Levy Bookings FAQ
Quick answers to questions we get most often during setup, onboarding, and migration.
General
What is Levy Bookings?
A booking funnel layer on top of the Levy Fleets reservation engine. Three surfaces — hosted booking page, embeddable JavaScript widget, and iPad POS — all share the same reservations table, the same Stripe routing, the same agreements, and the same IoT unlock plumbing as the rest of Levy Fleets.
How is this different from Advanced Bookings?
Advanced Bookings is the in-app Book Ahead flow for customers who already have a Levy mobile-app account. Levy Bookings is the public-facing funnel for first-time customers arriving from your website, Google Business Profile, social media, or your shop counter. Both share the same underlying reservations and inventory.
How is this different from the walk-in flow in the dashboard?
The walk-in page in Dashboard > Shop Rentals > Walk-in is a single-rep flow on the web dashboard. The iPad POS is a kiosk-optimized PWA running on the iPad at the counter. The iPad POS adds Stripe Terminal tap-to-pay, QR-scan-to-assign, and offline shell. They share the same reservation engine.
Pricing
How much does Levy Bookings cost?
Your SaaS subscription is unchanged. On top of that, Levy Bookings charges a 1% transaction fee on bookings that come through the widget, hosted page, or iPad POS. This is on top of Stripe's standard processing rate (2.6% + $0.20 per Levy's negotiated discount).
For context:
- FareHarbor: ~6% + $1 per booking.
- Peek Pro: ~6% + $1 per booking.
- Bookeo: monthly SaaS + extras.
- Levy Bookings: 1% + Stripe rates.
Are pilot operators charged the 1% fee?
Early design-partner operators are typically grandfathered at 0% for six months. Talk to your account manager.
Who pays Stripe processing fees?
Your subaccount's Stripe connected account pays them, the same way it does for any other transaction. They are deducted from the gross, leaving net_deposited. Partner payouts and tax remittance are calculated from net_deposited, so processing fees flow through correctly.
Does Stripe Terminal cost extra?
Stripe Terminal processing is 2.7% + $0.05 per in-person transaction (slightly cheaper than the 2.9% + $0.30 online rate, because card-present fraud is lower). No additional Stripe Terminal monthly fee.
What does the Shop Kit hardware cost?
Approximately $1,295 for the bundle (iPad, BBPOS WisePOS E reader, Star TSP143 printer, Star CD3-1616 cash drawer, Heckler stand). You can also buy any component à la carte or use your own hardware — the only requirement is that the iPad runs iPadOS 17+ and (for in-person payments) you have either a Stripe Terminal reader or an iPhone capable of Tap to Pay.
Payment and money
How does money flow?
The same way it does for every other Levy transaction:
- Customer pays via Stripe (Elements for online, Terminal for in-person).
- Stripe deposits net of fees into your subaccount's connected Stripe account.
- Partner payouts and tax remittance are calculated from
net_depositedon the reservation.
You see the gross, the Stripe fee, the 1% Levy fee (if applicable), and net_deposited on every reservation.
How are refunds handled?
Always through the reservation, never directly to the wallet. Use Refund on the reservation detail page (web dashboard or iPad POS) or Adjust fare for a price-down adjustment. See Promo Codes and Deposits for the full refund rules.
What about sales tax?
The same tax engine as every other Levy transaction. Configure your jurisdiction in Dashboard > Settings > Tax. The tax appears on the customer-facing quote, on the confirmation, and on partner-payout calculations.
If your subaccount is in a special situation (resale exemption, multi-jurisdiction tour bookings), talk to your account manager for setup.
Migration
How do I migrate from FareHarbor?
We provide a white-glove migration service for the first 50 operators:
- Export your inventory, upcoming bookings, and customers from FareHarbor as CSVs.
- Send them to us.
- We import inventory and customers into your Levy subaccount.
- We pre-build your widget with your colors, logo, and hero image.
- We give you a side-by-side comparison page so you can announce the switch.
End-to-end timeline is typically 1 week. We will match your FareHarbor rate for the first 90 days to make the math obviously favorable.
Can I run FareHarbor and Levy Bookings in parallel during transition?
Yes, with some caveats:
- The booking funnels are independent (one widget on Squarespace, separate FareHarbor link in your bio).
- Inventory is not shared — two systems do not know about each other's bookings.
- To avoid double-booking, set conservative inventory caps in Levy while you wind down FareHarbor.
Most operators run parallel for 2-4 weeks, then cut over fully.
How do I migrate from Peek Pro / Bookeo / Lightspeed Booking?
Same playbook as FareHarbor — CSV export, white-glove import. The system is platform-agnostic on the import side.
Will my existing SEO / Google Business Profile keep working?
Yes. Your existing landing pages keep ranking. The change is just what they link to. Your Google Business Profile Book button can point to the Levy-hosted page or any URL on your site that has the embedded widget — Google does not care about the booking backend.
Hardware
What iPad do I need?
10th-generation iPad (Wi-Fi, 64 GB) is the recommended model — runs around $349 list. Any iPad on iPadOS 17 or newer will work, including older Air and Pro models you may already have. Battery life supports a full shop day on a single charge.
What card reader should I buy?
BBPOS WisePOS E for $349 from Stripe. Connects to the iPad over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, supports tap (NFC), chip (EMV), and swipe (magstripe).
If you want to skip the reader entirely, Tap to Pay on iPhone works on any iPhone XS or newer running iOS 16.4+ in the US, UK, and Canada. Just sign into the POS on your iPhone and use it as the reader. No additional hardware.
What printer should I buy?
Star TSP143IIIBT Bluetooth thermal printer for $279. Plugs into a Star CD3-1616 cash drawer via RJ-11 so the drawer kicks open on every receipt.
Receipt-printer wiring is a planned follow-up to v1 — for now, email receipts (handled by Stripe) cover most use cases. If you want hardware receipt printing on day one, talk to your account manager.
Can I use my existing Square / Clover / Lightspeed hardware?
Not directly. Stripe Terminal is the only supported in-person payment processor because Levy Bookings routes payments through Stripe Connect.
If you have an existing Square/Clover relationship you want to preserve, you can keep them for non-rental retail (selling t-shirts, water bottles) and use Levy Bookings only for rentals.
Custom domains
Can I host the booking page at my own domain?
Yes. CNAME book.frankebikes.com to cname.levyelectric.com, open a support ticket with the desired domain, and we provision the certificate and routing within one business day. Existing widget embed snippets keep working — they just pass the iframe through the new CNAME.
Can I use a fully white-labeled experience?
Yes for the booking page (your domain, your logo, your colors). The iPad POS PWA is always served from fleets.levyelectric.com/pos for now — full white-label POS is a roadmap item.
Tour operators and B2B
Can I sell recurring guided tours?
Yes. See Tour Scheduling and Recurrence.
Can I sell to corporate customers on NET-30?
Yes. See B2B Corporate Accounts. Invoicing runs through Stripe Invoicing.
Can I integrate with Viator / GetYourGuide / Airbnb Experiences?
On the roadmap. Talk to your account manager if you need this — design partners get prioritized in scheduling.
Privacy and compliance
Is the widget GDPR-compliant?
The widget uses first-party cookies inside the iframe — no third-party trackers. The iframe loads on widget.levyelectric.com, which is in your subprocessor list. The customer consents to the booking T&Cs at signature.
If your jurisdiction requires a cookie banner specifically for the widget, you can add one on your parent page (the widget itself does not need an additional banner because everything is first-party).
Where is customer data stored?
US East (Supabase + Stripe US). If you operate in a jurisdiction with data-residency requirements (EU, Canada), talk to us — multi-region deployment is on the roadmap.
Does the waiver hold up legally?
The waiver is a digitally signed PDF with the customer's IP address, timestamp, and signature recorded. We have legal review on the default template for US states; if you operate in a specific state with unusual requirements (e.g. California's PAGA), have your counsel review the template before launch.
Support
Where do I get help?
- Chat from inside the dashboard (bottom-right widget).
- Email
support@levyelectric.com. - For booking-specific issues, open a ticket directly from the reservation detail page.
What is the support SLA?
Standard support: business-hours response within 4 hours. Critical issues (POS offline, payments failing, widget down): 1-hour response. Customers on the Pro tier get prioritized routing.
